What to Know About Yards Around Royston

Around Royston you'll find everything from small-town lots to farm acreage and lake homes on Hartwell.

  • Rural sites need a firm route. On acreage, the shed may travel across a pasture or field. Pick a dry week and a route that isn't soft or freshly tilled.
  • Lake lots slope. Homes on Lake Hartwell often drop toward the water. A gravel pad or concrete piers keep the building level, and photos of the path help us plan delivery.
  • Farm use. For feed, tack, or equipment storage, ask about double doors, a ramp, and a size that fits your mower or tractor.
Permits

Shed Permits in Franklin County

In unincorporated Franklin County, which includes much of the area around Royston and Lavonia, permits go through the Building Department at 141 Athens Street, Carnesville.

Under Georgia's adopted residential code, a one-story storage shed of 120 square feet or less is generally exempt from a building permit. Larger buildings usually need one, adding electricity usually needs an electrical permit, and setbacks apply at every size.

Confirm before you order by calling (706) 384-2483 or visiting franklincountyga.gov. Inside the city limits of Royston, Lavonia, or another town, check with city hall. Hart, Elbert, Madison, and Stephens counties each set their own rules.
